Humanist Canada hosts Humanism in Action Conference in Waterloo, Ontario

On November 16th, 2024 Humanist Canada, along with our affiliates Society of Freethinkers and Secular Connexion, hosted Humanism in Action: Igniting Progress for Positive Change. This in-person, day -ong conference was held in Waterloo, Ontario and was attended by over sixty people.

Speakers included Humanist Canada Board Members Maureen Bulbrook (with Christina Ninham on Advocacy for Indigenous Rights Through a Humanist Lens) and Sassan Sanei (Rising Theocracy: Insights from Iran and Echoes in North America) and Executive Director Bettianne Hedges (shared video: What is Humanism).  Also featured were Doug Thomas (Secular Activism), Leslie Rosenblood (The Cost of Religion in Canada: Dollars and Sense) and Dr. Chris DiCarlo (Advancing the Imperative for Critical Thinking.)

Participants were encouraged to question the speakers and discuss the subject after each session.
