Discussion 2024: The Importance of Humanism in Understanding the Legalized Dehumanization of Indigenous People in Canada
With Christina Ninham and Maureen Bulbrook
Postponed
Indigenous lawyers Christina Ninham and Maureen Bulbrook are all too familiar with the pervasive social, political, and legal challenges faced by Indigenous Canadians.
For this conversation, Christina and Maureen will sit down with Humanist Canada member Derek Forgie to survey Canada’s legal system and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms through a humanist perspective. Together, they’ll explore the institutionalization of Indigenous dehumanization and the many ways in which existing laws are unjustly interpreted at the expense of indigenous communities.
Attendance is free but registration is required.
