Morgentaler Committee Mission Statement
One of the fundamental rights of Canadian citizens is the freedom to make decisions about our sexual and reproductive health. Our committee aims to promote transparency and education, and to help Canadians navigate the complexities of abortion, reproductive and sexual health through access to reliable information and resources.
Our mission is to provide a platform where individuals can access up-to-date, evidence-based, and impartial information about abortion, reproductive and sexual health and rights in Canada. Additionally, we will facilitate open and honest conversations that respect an individual’s autonomy and values, as well as their right to make decisions that align with their beliefs, circumstances, and well-being. In this way we hope to reduce stigma, break down barriers, foster empathy, and promote a more compassionate and understanding society.
Through a multi-faceted approach, our programs will:
- Empower Individuals: Provide accessible and understandable resources as well as a comprehensive list of verified sources, including medical professionals, reputable organizations, and government agencies, who offer accurate information on abortion, reproductive and sexual health in Canada.
- Raise Awareness: Work to spread awareness about the importance of reliable information regarding abortion, reproductive and sexual health, and to dismantle myths and stigmas surrounding them.
- Foster Open Dialogue: Create safe spaces for open and honest conversations.
- Advocate: Encourage legislators and policymakers to ensure that laws regarding abortion, reproductive and sexual health and rights in Canada are based on the best available evidence and prioritize the well-being and autonomy of individuals.
Join us as we reclaim the narrative surrounding abortion, reproductive and sexual health and rights in Canada. Together, we can make a difference.
